Whittier street punk band Knuckleheadz just pulled off one of the wildest underground punk shows L.A. has ever seen—inside a McDonald’s on Slauson and Central Avenues. More than 100 fans packed the fast-food joint, creating an unforgettable night of punk rock rebellion. Even the McDonald’s employees came out to film the madness on their phones.
A Secret Punk Show in McDonald’s? Here’s How It Went Down.
Knuckleheadz, known for their raw, high-energy performances, had been planning this guerrilla-style punk show for months. According to frontman Tom Knucklehead, the band originally teased the event with a flyer showing punks swarming the iconic golden arches but kept the exact location under wraps to avoid police interference.
“When the day finally came, we were pumped. We had to switch locations last minute, but we made it happen,” said Tom.
And happen it did. As soon as they set up inside McDonald’s, pandemonium broke out. The band launched straight into their anti-corporate anthem “Fuck McDonaldz”, igniting an instant pit. Fans, including kids, punks of all ages, and even a guy dressed as Ronald McDonald, sang along while others crowd-surfed through the dining room.
Why McDonald’s? The Meaning Behind the Madness
“McDonald’s is poison, and we had to call it out,” said Tom, who was inspired by classic punk tracks like “Corporate Deathburger” by MDC and “McAnarchy” by Narcoleptic Youth.
The band, formed in 2023, is deeply embedded in the punk and fight scene. Tom runs Knucklehead Martial Arts in Whittier and leads the Punk Rock Fight Club, where punks train in Muay Thai, MMA, and weightlifting. A two-time Muay Thai champion and professional skateboarder, Tom’s DIY ethos bleeds into everything Knuckleheadz does.
A Show for the History Books
The 20-minute set was pure chaos, but in true punk spirit, the crowd left without a trace, keeping the venue intact. Famed photographer Estevan Oriol even showed up to document the event.
After the show, fans gathered outside, taking pictures and high-fiving. “It all went down smoother than we could’ve hoped,” Tom said. “Even the employees were into it!”
