Since the much-anticipated announcement of Nintendo’s Switch 2 last week, numerous companies have pledged their support for this next-gen hybrid gaming system. Among them is Microsoft, with Gaming CEO Phil Spencer officially confirming Xbox’s backing during his appearance on the Gamertag Radio podcast.

Xbox and Nintendo: A Growing Collaboration

Spencer expressed Microsoft’s enthusiasm about supporting Nintendo, emphasizing Xbox’s ongoing mission to bring its game library to more platforms:

“I want everybody to be able to play on Xbox, and it does mean more of our games shipping on more platforms. Not just PlayStation—we love the work that we do with Nintendo, we love what we do with Valve on Steam, and that’s going to continue. We’ll just continue to do more of it.”

Microsoft’s Support for Switch 2

Spencer also revealed that he had been in direct contact with Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa following the Switch 2 announcement. He congratulated Furukawa on the new console and highlighted one of his favorite features:

“My old eyes appreciate the larger screen upgrade.”

The Xbox boss went on to praise Nintendo’s consistent innovation and influence within the gaming industry:

“Who would ever bet against the success of that team? I mean, they are just masterful in what they do. Switch is a massive success, and I think Switch 2 will be as well.”

What This Means for Gamers

While no specific Xbox titles have been announced for the Switch 2 yet, Spencer’s remarks suggest a strong partnership moving forward. Microsoft has already committed to bringing the Call of Duty series to Nintendo platforms as part of its broader strategy to expand its gaming ecosystem.

Additionally, rumors have surfaced this week about the possibility of Diablo 4 making its way to the Switch 2, fueling excitement for the console’s future lineup.

In 2023, Xbox demonstrated its commitment to cross-platform collaboration by launching several games on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation, including Grounded and Sea of Thieves.

Nintendo Switch 2: A Promising Future

As Nintendo prepares for the Switch 2’s release, industry leaders like Microsoft’s Phil Spencer are expressing confidence in its potential to replicate—and perhaps even surpass—the success of its predecessor. With Xbox’s commitment to delivering more games to Nintendo platforms, gamers have plenty to look forward to as these two powerhouses continue their collaboration.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Switch 2, Xbox partnerships, and upcoming game announcements!
